DEADLINE FOR TIMA 2009-2010 BEST LIVE AND RECORDED MATERIAL SUBMISSIONS IS: WED. MARCH 31st, 2010 @ 5 PM EST.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
You or your band must be 100% Canadian owned and operated with the exception of the “Best International” and “Best USA” categories. No affiliation to a multinational *If you have a DISTRIBUTION DEAL through a major but still do-it-yourself IT IS OK. If you still don’t know if you are eligible, email us!

• The Toronto Independent Music Awards are open to artists PROVINCIALLY, REGIONALLY and INTERNATIONALLY.

• If you are from Ontario, you are eligible for all categories

• If you are from Canada, but outside of Ontario you may apply for “Best Out-of-Province”

• USA artists may ONLY apply for the “Best USA” category.

• International artists may ONLY apply for the “Best International” category.

• If you are between the ages 11 – 18 you are eligible to apply to the “Best Young Songwriters” categories. The “Best Young Songwriters” categories are ONLY open to Ontario Residents.

APPLICATION FORM:

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY FOR OUR RECORDED MATERIAL AND “BEST LIVE” CATEGORIES:
1) If you are applying FOR BOTH the Recorded Material Categories and the “Best Live” Categories OR ONLY the Recorded Material Categories, You are able to submit all the information we need via our online form

Please Note: If you are applying for both the Recorded Material Categories and “Best Live” Categories, we have a special combination application that will save you 50% automatically via the form above.

If you are apply for ONLY the “Best Live” category, you can submit your application via Sonicbids.

2)All applicants are subject to the $25.00 entry fee for the Recorded Material Categories with which you are able to apply for as many categories as you feel your music is applicable. IF you are also applying for the “Best Live” Categories, your application is subject to an additional fee of $6.50. You may send a Paypal payment, money order or cheque. Please see payment instructions after you apply via our online form.

3) If you want to submit more than 2 songs for consideration, you must fill out a SEPARATE online application and submit an additional fee of $25.00

OUR PROCEDURES FOR THE RECORDED MATERIAL CATEGORIES AND FURTHER INFORMATION:

1) Their are 3 judges per genre category. Each judges recieves your tracks blank (with no track name or artist name) through an online system and score each song out of 100 based on our TIMA criteria. The top 5 scores are the nominees, the top score is the winner. For questions on our judgement process, please email us.

2)The winners of the recorded material categories will be announced at our award ceremony on July 31st @ The Phoenix Concert Theater, 2010.

3) Nominees will recieve over $5,000 in media exposure and opportunities. We aim for the winners to recieve $60,000 total in unique industry connected prizes. For a comprehensive prize list for our previous years, please see the “Prize” section of the TIMA website.

OUR PROCEDURES FOR THE BEST LIVE CATEGORIES AND FURTHER INFORMATION:

1) The TIMA “Best Live” Showcase competition no longer require a seperate application from our “Recorded Material” categories. However, you can apply SOLELY for the “Best Live” category via Sonicbids.
2) Artists are eligible to showcase in the following categories:
“Best Live” – Electric (All Genres)
“Best Live” – Acoustic (All Genres and acoustic instruments)
“Best Live” – Urban (All Genres including Reggae, Rap, R&B etc.)

3)You are able to submit all the information we need via Sonicbids. All applicants are subject to the $6.50 entry fee via our online form. You save 50% via our website versus Sonicbids.

4)Approx 140 artists will be chosen to showcase throughout the year.

5)Their are 3 judges at each showcase performance. Each judges scores your performance out of 50 based on our TIMA criteria. The top 5 scores are the nominees, the top score is the winner. For questions on our judgement process, please email us.

6) Nominees will recieve over $5,000 in media exposure and opportunities, Winners will recieve $15,000 each in unique industry connected prizes SEPERATE from our recorded material categories. For a comprehensive prize list for our previous years, please see the “Prize” section of the TIMA website.

*The TIMAs reserve the right to add categories, or remove categories if bands are compatible with and/or can be considered for other genres.
