The 5th Toronto Independent Music Awards took place on Fri. July 23rd @ The Phoenix Concert Theater in Toronto, Ontario.  We awarded 20 artists in various genre categories with $60,000 in industry sponsored prizes and exposure! 17 of 20 categories were  recorded material categories, where artist submitted their songs via .mp3 or CD. 3 of 20 categories were BEST LIVE categories which included BEST LIVE – Electric, BEST LIVE – Acoustic and BEST LIVE – Urban categories, where artists competed against hundred of other musicians to earn a nomination in the BEST LIVE category. BEST LIVE showcases took place every Wednesday night at The Central in Toronto, Ontario over a period of 2 seasons.

The TIMAs were hosted by Sean Ward and D’Anise. The TIMAs had a special introductory performance by Ripple Rhythm and 9 other performances by  2008 winners including: Marinda, Mike Celia, Lori Nuic, JD ERA, Jumple, Warmachine, All the Trendy Kids, a headlining set by The Ruby Spirit and a surprise performance by TIMA 2009-2010 winners of BEST LIVE – Electric, The MacHams. DJ Linky Beatz entertained the crowd with rippin’ segments.

Special VIP presenters included: Rudy Blair (860 News), Barry Haugen (President of the Ontario Country Music Association), Sarina Paris, The Artist Life, Aleesia, Peter Linseman, The Johnstones, Dulce Barbosa and many more.
