WHAT IS THE TORONTO INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARDS?
Toronto Independent Music Awards (“TIMAs”) is an annual song competition for musicians in the Province of Ontario. Now on its ninth season, TIMA has become the platform for independent musicians to network, attain tools for success and be discovered.
The TIMA is a coveted award shared by independent up-and-coming musicians who have gone on to sign with major and independent labels, top-charts, secure major motion picture publishing deals, and win Junos.
Many notable artists have been involved with TIMA, including: Bif Naked (Recording Artist), Jully Black (Recording Artist), Alannah Myles (Recording Artist), Gord Lewis (Recording Artist, Teenage Head), The Cliks (Warner Music /Tommy Boy Records), Sabrina Jalees (Comedian), The Joys (eOne Entertainment, Certified Gold Recording Artists), The Essentials (Certified Gold Recording Artists), JD ERA (Black Market Music Group / Universal), KAI (Warner Music Canada), up-and-comers Darrell London, The Ruby Spirit, Juno award winners The Good Lovelies (Six Shooter), Juno nominees God Made Me Funky, JAFFA ROAD, DALA, Rich Kidd, and many, many more.
TIMAs is a home-grown, not-for-profit business created with an entrepreneurial spirit to support independent Canadian musicians. TIMAs acknowledges and celebrates songs by independent Canadian musicians across the Province of Ontario without regard to recording quality, industry affiliation or sales history. TIMAs is supported by Canadian and international music industry professionals, journalists, accomplished recording artists, broadcasters, and most of all – music fans and aficionados.
